NEW! Page Kit & Video Tutorial for The Scrapbook Diaries {With Maja Design Papers} PLUS A NEW Stamp Set Designed by ME!!!

So I've been getting quite a few emails and private messages sent to me lately asking if I would create a masculine style page for The Scrapbook Diaries Kit Pages.  So I've finally gotten down to it and got one done!

Of course I had to reach for some of my favorite Maja Design Papers to make up this page kit!  I love to include Maja papers in the kit pages where I can because I know how hard it is for some of you to get hold of these lovely collections.  This way you can have all my favorite things to work with included in one fun filled kit!

Janene (owner of The Scrapbook Diaries) sent me lots of wonderful masculine elements to use on a masculine style page including lots of amazing chipboard designs, trinkets, sprays/paints, and embellishments.  I think you guys are really going to enjoy playing with the fun goodies in this kit!

Here is a close-up of some of the lovely chipboard pieces included in this kit!  ...Also included in this kit is a very cool product I just LOVE from Shimmerz Paints called Inklingz, it's a super shimmery paint that gives a beautiful metalic look to the chipboard pieces.

Another close-up of the page and of the yummy embellishments that are included in this kit.  I love doing these kits because I'm able to give a quick and easy answer when you lovely ladies write to me asking where to find the products I use.  You can find it all in one place, in one easy to order kit....The Scrapbook Diaries!

Yes,....I did include some blooms on the page, BUT I stuck to blooms with more masculine textures and colors.  I also included elements like keys, clocks, gears & cogs to help you scrap those 'guy' photos you have been meaning to work with.

If you are looking to create a lovely 'masculine' style page for the man (or boys) in your life, this just might be the one you've been waiting for!  And if you just want the kit for an everyday page, this would work wonderfully as well!  You will get  all the papers, embellishments, sprays/paints, chipboard that I used in making this page as well as a full step by step VIDEO TUTORIAL made by me (exclusive only to The Scrapbook Diaries) with the purchase of the kit.  So grab one while you can, Janene says these kits fly off the shelf, so don't miss out on getting one for yourself!  You can order your kit HERE.

Before I finish up todays post I want to share some exciting news I have to share!  I've design my own set of stamps!!  Lately I've gotten more into the mixed media side of scrapping and you know how sometimes you just want a quick way to add some interesting background designs?  Well, I did a little hand drawing to create some cool, unique stamps.  My friend Janene at The Scrapbook Diaries took these sketches and converted them into stamp designs.....

Above is the hand drawn water droplets I sketched out for Janene, she then took this drawing and converted it into a stamp design......

Here is the design she converted it to (above), we also added a few separate droplets so that stray droplets may be added to your project.  I will do a project soon that will show you fun ways to use this stamp as a background design.

I also added some brick wall designs to this stamp set.  I often hand sketch some brick wall designs in my scrap pages and thought it would be fun make little stamps to mimic the design.  I love the look of brick breaking through cracked walls, so I made a stamp design to achieve that look.  I had a little more space on my stamp set so I also added a leaf stamp.  I find that leaves always add a nice finishing touch to a floral cluster and I often just cut a leaf shape from some cardstock to do this, but I thought it would be cool to have a little leaf stamp  to add the vein design as well.

Another design you've all probably seen used on my pages is the corset lacing.  This is something I've done on my pages for years....but I thought it would be fun to have a stamp that you can use at the top of a page or card to add a design element, quick and easy.  I will also show fun ways to use this stamp on upcoming projects.

I have not got my hands on these stamps yet (waiting on Canadian mail system LOL) but you can put your order in already (and may even end up with my stamp sets before I do! LOL), Janene has them up for sale at her store right now.  So if you'd like to check them out you can find them here  BACKGROUND DROPLET/BRICK STAMPS and CORSET TOPPER STAMP.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today and for all the lovely comments and feedback!  Your comments always put the 'happy' in my day! xo xo

I've Got an Article Pubbed in Scrap 365 Magazine! {August/Sept Issue}

Hi everyone!  Wow, this summer is moving by so quickly!  I had meant to post about this last week but time just got away from me.   I just wanted to let you know that the latest Issue of Scrap365 is now out (August/September Issue), and I'm happy to say that I have an article and 2 layouts pubbed in this one!  I'm always dabbling in other crafts as well as scrapbooking and am always trying to find ways to incorporate these crafts into my scrapbooking projects.

This time around I did an article on 'Fabulous Felt'....showing ways to incorporate felting techniques into your scrapbook projects.   I played with 2 types of felting techniques to create the blooms I made, ...Wet Felting and Needle Felting.

I'm only allowed to show portions of my layout (sneak peeks), but above you can see part of the bloom design I created using these fun felting tecniques.

Here is one more peek at the page I made for this article, the bloom/vine was so much fun to make and surprisingly easy as well.  I know I will for sure be playing again with this technique for future pages.

For my second page I shared a very simple felt floom technique combined with a bit of inking to the fabric as well.  Above you can see a little peek at my page.  I tried to share techniques that would appeal to both beginners and more advanced crafters.

If you are interested in checking out this cool technique, look for Scrap365 Magazine at your local magazine/book store or you can subscribe HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! xo xo

Shabby-Chic Mixed Media Canvas & Tutorial {Shimmerz Paints, Maja Design, Dusty Attic}

Hi everyone! I have another fun mixed media canvas to share with you today, another 8x10 canvas I made using a variety of Shimmerz products, Dusty Attic Chipboard and Maja Design papers!  This time around I thought I would go for a Shabby-chic design.

For this project I used the following  Shimmerz products:

I used the following Dusty Attic Products:
~ Baroque Corners
~ White Mini Roses
~ Divine Divas (winged dress form)
~ Ornate Frame #3
I used the following Maja Design Collections:
~ Coffee In the Arbour
~ Crea Diem

As always I thought it would be best to show you all my process by making a video tutorial that shows all the steps in creating this canvas.  I did make the actual corset embellishment that is the centerpiece of the project with some Martha Stewart air dry clay, it's easily made so I figured that you didn't need a tutorial on making the embellishment.  (BTW, I know that many of you asked for a video tutorial on how I made the Mermaids Tail in the last video I made for Shimmerz so I got that done over the weekend, you can find the video tutorial for the Mermaids Tail HERE.  So if you needed that extra little bit of help to make your own mermaid project just click on the link and you've got it :)   So here you go, enjoy! xo

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and will give some of these techniques a try....here are a few close-ups that you can view at your own pace...

I love the deep bronze shimmer the Shimmerz Brass Knuckles Inklingz, it really got me the look of a vintage mirror frame (Dusty Attic's Ornate Frame #3) that I was going for.

The soft pearly look of the Tutti-Frutti dazzlers gives the corset a lovely feminine shabby-chic look.

It's hard to see it in this photo but there are these beautiful shimmery bits of mica in the Sugar Plum Shimmerz paint that adds a subtle amount of glitter to the background design (you can see it better in the video). I feel like the plums and pinks from Shimmerz are a really good match for the colors in the Maja Design papers!

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and hope that you will give these wonderful products and fun techniques a try in your mixed media projects!  And don't forget to get your BONUS/Free Shimmerz product in your next order, just put my name "Gabrielle' into the INSTRUCTIONS FOR MERCHANT part of your order and your will receive a FREE Bottle of Shimmerz or Dimensionz or a sample size jar of Dazzlerz or Texturez in the color of your choice!  xo

VIDEO TUTORIAL: How To Make a Polymer Clay Mermaid Tail

Okay my friends, you asked and I answered!  After posting my Video Tutorial on making the 'Imagine' canvas design that I made for Shimmerz Paint, I got tons of emails, messages on YouTube and Facebook asking if I would create a tutorial to show how I made the Polymer clay mermaid tail that was the centerpiece for my canvas. Above is a photo of the bare clay piece that I will show you how to make.  So sit back and enjoy! xo

Hope you enjoyed the video and that you are now able to create your own sea-scape design :)  ....If you missed the video Tutorial on painting the mermaids tail and putting together the canvas design, you can find that Video Tutorial HERE.

Here is a photo of the finished/painted mermaids tail...

I used the gorgeous NEW Shimmerz Paints 'Inklingz' to get the two toned shimmery effect....You can find Shimmerz Paints HERE.  NOTE:  You can get a free/Bonus Shimmers product (a full sized bottle of Shimmerz or Dimensionz or a sample sized jar of Dazzlerz or Texturez) if you put my name "Gabrielle" in the INSTRUCTIONS TO MERCHANT part of your order :)

Have a wonderful and creative weekend! xo

A Cup of Spring {Bo Bunny's Enchanted Garden}

I'm so crazy about this beautiful collection 'Enchanted Garden', the whimsical color combinations in this one really appeal to me.  For this layout I did a bit of inking and spritzing and a fair bit of stamping.  For this page I created a video tutorial to show the layout being made step by step.  Enjoy!

Here are a few close-ups of the page elements....

I mixed and matched a few packs of the Bo Bunny blossoms to create my floral cluster and added a twine bow and some cheesecloth to finish the cluster.

I love whimsical look of the book paper with the butterfly specimens.  I also used some of the 6x6 paper pade to create a matting for my photo, ...a great way to paper save, I love not having to cut up a 12x12 paper for a bit of matting, don't you?

I used the new Bo Bunny Stitch stamps and washi tape for my corner interest on my page, and accented with some wood embellishments and trinkets.

Another peek at some of the wood embellishments I added, tucked in around the photo frame. I also used a bit of Bo Bunny's smal size paper doily tucked in the edge.

Bo Bunny Product used in this project:
Patterned Paper: Fantasy, Mosaic, Spellbound, Periodical/Enchanted Garden
6x6 Paper Pad: Enchanted Garden
Combo Stickers: Enchanted Garden
Stamps: It Is Written Large Stamps, NEW Stitches Stamp Set, Distressed Textures Large Stamp, Stained Textures Large Stamp
Kraft Wood Shapes/Elegant
Paper Doilies/Small
Blossoms: Bouquet, Pansy, Daisy/in Plum Purple
Trinkets: Country Garden
Washi Tape: Black and White

I hope you enjoyed watching the process on making this page and hope you will give this gorgeous collection a try for yourself!

NEW! Page Kit from The Scrapbook Diaries {with Video Tutorial}

I have to say creating this page was so much fun!! I love designing with beach themed embellishments, and I find the colors of sea-side and beach style papers soothing. This page kit from The Scrapbook Diaries is just packed with so many fun elements, super-fine cut wood scrolls, cute chipboard accents, natural floral pieces, natural sea elements (starfish), mists, pearl strands, texture elements, fish netting and so much more! Couple it all with beautiful premium papers and a gorgeous set of Prima stamps and you will have a beautiful summer kit to create with.

As always purchase of this kit comes with unlimted access to a video tutorial I made to show step by step how I made the above page design so that you can re-create one of your own.  You can make it exactly the same as I did or tweek it to your taste.

Here is a close up of some of the beautiful embellishments and stamps in this kit. Isn't the stamp detailing beautiful?  I know I will be using that stamp often.

Here is more of a close up of some of the lovely embellishments in this kit.  I personally just love the natural floral accents and the intricately cut wood scrolls. The resin Prima frames are always wonderful for adding a pretty shabby chic touch to a page as well.

Another close-up of the page details...there is a really cool pearl strand in this kit that adds the look of treasure caught in a net.  Janene at The Scrapbook Diaries is a master at seeking out unique and beautiful embellishments, from lace to blooms to stencils and inks, she is always coming up with something new and fun to add to a page!

And how cute is that title script?  I love the font used on this one!  ....Do you like what you see?  Would you like to create this page for yourself?  Then head on over to The Scrapbook Diaries and grab one while you can (and when you are there check out the gorgeous BONUS page Janene made up to go with the kit)!  I know this one will go fast! You can order your own page kit HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I wish you all a lovely, scrappy Summer weekend! xo

Saying Thanks in Style {Maja Design}

Thankyou tag

Hi all,  I just have a quick little post today to share, a little tag I made using some blue paper from Crea Diem and a creamy/yellow color paper from Vintage Spring Basics from Maja Design.

CreaDiem-P1

Vintage-Springr-Basics-P1

Thankyou tag close

I used the Spellbinders Rose Creations floral dies with the cream color paper and tinted the centers with some Ingvild Bolme chalk ink. The vine flourish was cut from a Cheery Lynn die called Fancy Flourish. I added a little texture with a Crafters Workshop stencil and texture paste.

Finishing the design off with a few adhesive pearls. If you are like me and don't want to waste a bit of your Maja papers, then creating cards and tags are a great way to make good use of them.

Timeless cards with Bo Bunny

I'm a big fan of making my patterned papers stretch as far as they can, so I usually start by making a layout first (you need larger pieces for 12x12 layouts)....then I take the scraps and create cards out of them.  The tag (above) was made from some paper I had left over from the last layout I made with the Somewhere In Time collection.

I used a fabric flower to accent the tag and for the smaller blooms I used a punch on the 'Antiquity' paper, gave it a little crinkle and some chalk inking on the edges.  I tucked a little bit of cheesecloth in to help give more of a tattered look.

I love the 'You're Invited' stamp set, I think I've used this set over and over. I used the simpler font style stamps for this card because I felt it matched the look of the card/tag better.

Bo Bunny Products:
Patterned Paper: Antiquity, Timeless/Somewhere In Time
Cardstock Stickers: Somewhere In Time
Stamps: You're Invited Large Stamps

I was going for a more elegant look for this card. I love the ornate fence stamp, so I thought I'd create a little gardent scene.  I did a little fussy cutting of floral and clock elemtns and punched some blooms from the coordinated paper as well.

I chose the fancier font style stamps for this card because I wanted to continue the elegant styling into the title as well.

Bo Bunny Products:
Patterned Paper: Timeless, Antiquity/Somewhere In Time
Cardstock Stickers: Somewhere In Time
Stamps: It is Written Large Stamp, Gateway Large Stamp
Jewels: Somewhere In Time
Blooms: Tresors de Luxe esty shop

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today, your kind and generous comments are so appreciated! xo
