Mixed Media layout {Bo Bunny}

I thought I would share with you today a mixed media style layout I made.  I've been on the Bo Bunny design team for many years now and have gotten to play with so many lovely papers and embellishments.  So for this project I thought I would pull together lots fun fun Bo Bunny embellishments, flowers, wood accents, buttons, chipboard and trinkets.  I began by choosing a favorite patterned paper for me, from the Happy Tails collection as a nice simple backdrop for my page design.

Then I started gathering together lots and lots of embellishments from a variety of Bo Bunny collections.
DESIGNER TIP: The beauty of this project was that I could use bits and pieces from any collection irregardless of the color of the piece because I was covering them all with Gesso (to get an even and porous work surface) and then misting it all with some aqua and brown inks and then finally giving it all a coating of gold paint.  See the two blooms with the green pearl centers?  They were orange fabric blooms that Bo Bunny put out many many years ago.   Here I was able to make them work by painting them to match my page.

Here is another view of the many blooms, buttons, metal trinkets, wood accents....even lace that I used to create loads of the deep texture on the page design.

I also layered in loads of chipboard, above you can see pieces from the Modern Miss collection (flourishes, large numbers etc.) and again, it didn't matter what colors they were as I was using a mixed media painting technique that blended them all together.  Once the project was dry, I added a few jewelled accents and some brads that were in complementary colors.

Bo Bunny Products:
Patterned Paper: Happy Tails / Happy Tails; Miss Bold, Selfie / Modern Miss; Doors / The Avenues.
Chipboard: Modern Miss
Wood Embellishments: Kraft Wood Cogs
Washi Tape: Kraft Patterned Washi Tape
Trinkets: Serinade, Serenity, Apple Cider,
Buttons: Love Letters, Happy Tails, Modern Miss
Brads: The Avenues, Primrose
Blossoms: Clover Daisy, Natural Earth Pansy, Natural Earth Bouquet, Fabric Blossoms (older collection)
Lace: Natural Earth Lace
Jewels: Modern Miss, Primrose

I hope you enjoyed my mixed media page and hope that I've inspired you to use up those odds and ends and create your own mixed media piece! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today and as always I appreciate all the kind and encouraging feedback!

Scrapping Simple Pleasures {Maja Design}

Hi everyone!  Today I thought I would share a layout I made using lots of handmade blooms that I made using Maja Design papers.  I wanted to celebrate the everyday simple pleasures, like a little bouquet of beautiful smelling flowers/like a few snippits of Lavender.  I echoed the title in my photo by using my photo editing software to add some words like 'simple pleasures' and 'sweet Lavender' to my photo with some script text.  I used the Spellbinders 'Rose Creations' dies to make my blooms and pulled together a bunch of papers from the maja collections in greens and plummy/pinks.

I chose papers that did not have a lot of patterns on them to keep an even hue to the floral designs. To make the blooms I lightly moistened the die cut petals with some water and just curled the edges of the petals out to make my rosettes.

Another design feature I added to my page is thes layered stitched circles.  I chose 3 patterned papers that I thought looked pretty together and then cut out 3 different sized circles.  I inkedthe edges with some soft brown chalk ink and machine stitched to finish.  I also added some texture to the background paper using the 'Rings and Puddles' Memory Box stencil with texture paste.

Here you can see the combined cut circle and floral embellishments working together.  I added some Ingvild Bolme resin butterflies to build up the shabby-chic look of the page as well as some Tresors de Luxe lace.  I also added some small 'bud' clusters in that I plucked off some old silk flowers I was tossing out, they were the exact color match to my handmade blooms.

Maja Design Papers used for this project:
Vintage Autumn Basics (X-bs, Heritage-bs),
Sofiero (Princess Margareta's Garden-bs),
Vintage Summer Basics (1920, 1923, 1933)
Vintage Spring Basics (7th of May-bs, 10th of March-bs),
Life in the Country (Summer Fields-bs, Sowing Seeds-bs).

Dusty Attic Chipboard:
Botanic Accents #2
Corner Flourish #5

I hope you enjoyed my project today and hope I inspired you to try scrapping everyday little things that bring you joy!

Mixed Media VIDEO TUTORIAL {Dusty Attic Designs}

I've been on the Dusty Attic Design Team for almost 5 years now and one of the first pieces I was given to work with was the French Window Pane....I really loved this window design and was saving it for a special project....almost 5 years later I've finally come up with the special project I wanted to use it on.  For this canvas I used loads of Dusty attic chipboard pieces as well as some of their paints and blooms.  I always find when it comes to mixed media it is best to show rather than tell so here is a video tutorial I made up (this one is a half hour because I wanted to show all the misting and layering, so grab a cup of coffee or tea, relax and enjoy!

Supplies used on this project:
~ 8x10 Canvas
~ Maja Design Patterned Paper (for window) Vintage Summer Basics
~ Dusty Attic Chipboard:  DeVine Frame Set, Wrought Iron Fence, Mini Ornate Gate #2, French Window Pane, Brick Wall Panel, Mini Bird Houses, Bird Nests #1, Mini Birds #3, Mini Branches, Monarch Butterflies, Flutterbies #3.

I also want to thank Janene from The Scrapbook Diaries for all the lovely mixed media supplies she sends me, I got to use lots of them on this project (thanks so much Janene!) xo

Easy Peasy Cards Using Bo Bunny Noteworthy!

I just love how easy it is to make cards using Noteworthy die cuts!  For this card I used one of the pretty labels from the Primrose Noteworthy package and simply added a couple of butterflies from the package as well (there are lots of pretty butterflies in this die cut package!).  I just created a background using a few layers of patterned paper and mounted the label die in the middle of the card using foam strips to give the card a little pop.

I'm always in need of Thank-you cards, I'm one of those old fashioned gals that likes to take the time to send (or give) someone a card when someone has done something kind for me.  So the Bo Bunny 'You're Invited' stamp set comes in so handy for me.  I love that you have a variety of 'Thank-you' stamps to choose from, from elegant to casual.

I also did a little stamping with the 'It is Written' stamp (another favorite) and added some pearly jewel accents with the coordinating jewels from the Primrose collection.

Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Gate, Memories, Dot/ Primrose
6x6 Paper Pad: Primrose
Noteworthy: Primrose
Jewels: Primrose
Stamps: It Is Written, You're Invited

For this card I combined die cuts from 2 different Noteworth collections, Primrose and The Avenues.  The circle die cut is used as the card title and as a card accent.  I used the birdcage design from The Avenues collection as another card embellishment.

I made the rose accent using one of the darker pink papers from the Primrose collection using a floral die cut. The green leaf design was cut from Clover double dot cardstock.

I created a lacy border around one of the patterned paper layers with the light green patterned paper from the Primrose collection using a lacy edge punch.  I used a pearl 3D paint to add a dot pattern around the circle design from the circle die cut paper.

Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Breathtaking, Smile, Bliss, Memories/ Primrose
Cardstock: Clover/Double Dot
6x6 Paper Pad: Primrose
12x12 Combo Stickers: Primrose
Noteworthy: Primrose, The Avenues
Stamps: Distressed Texture Stamps, It Is Written Stamps

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, I hope you'll give Bo Bunny Noteworthy a go when creating your cards, elegant cards are made fast and easy using this fun product!

Maja Design Layout Published In Swedish Magazine!

I was asked a few months ago to create a layout using Maja Design papers for a Norweigan Magazine called "Ett Trykk' (meaning 'One Print' in English).  I wanted to showcase a variety of Maja Design papers so I chose paper from their Vintage Spring, Vintage Summer and Vintage Autumn Basics as well as from Ska vi ta en Fika and from Crea Diem.

The photo is a picture I just love that I took a few years back of my husband and my youngest daughter Meagan.  I just love the way she is looking up at him as he's talking to her.  She is so much like my dear husband, she has a funny quirky sense of humour and an outgoing personality, clearly learned at the feet of her father :)

One of my favorite color combinations is purple and green, so I used the lush and beautiful Dusty Attic Chipboard piece called Ivy Corners to accent the page.  I simply painted the Ivy with gesso and then added some watered down green (DA Forest paint) and brown (DA Hot Chocolate) paint to it.  The flowers are Dusty In Bloom 'Evening Blush' blossoms.

I did a little inking with some green chalk ink and stamping with my favorite Bo Bunny Stamp (It is Written) and then added a texture design with a Heidi Swapp Stencil and home-made texture paste

The quote you see here and the words on and underneath the photo are all old rub-on's I had in my stash from my old days on the Daisy D's design team.  I also took this photo on an extreme angle so you can see the clear glass dome accents I added to my fussy cut clocks from the Maja Design papers (Vintage Autumn Basics XVI).....I feel like they give the clock embellishments a really nice authentic finish.

The vine design you see in the bottom right corner is another Dusty Attic chipboard piece called Corner Flourish #3, another favourite chippie of mine.  I painted it with more of the green and brown paints to give it a nice lush finish.

Here is another view of the floral cluster I accented this page with.  I interspersed a lot of clock cut-outs on this design because I wanted to reflect the passage of time and the importance spending time together.

Supplies list:

Patterned Paper: Maja Design: Ska vi ta en Fika (Pratstund, Våffla m björnbärssylt-bs), Crea Diem (Fylld av kärlek), Vintage Spring Basics (4rth of May), Vintage Summer Basics (1923), Vintage Autumn Basics (XVI).

Chipboard: Dusty Attic Designs
Flowers: Dusty Attic Designs and punched from Maja papers (small)
Stencil: Heidi Swapp
Texture paste: home-made
Stamps: Bo Bunny
Rub-on's: Daisy D's
Ink and Paint:  Dusty Attic Paints (Dusty In Color), Ink: Versa Magic
Bubble Caps: Epiphany Crafts EC Shape Studio (glass bubbles over the clock cut-outs)
Other: Burlap, Hemp twine

PSSSST!!! Have you seen the sneak peek of the next Maja Design collection??!! (above)  I'm in love with this gorgeous summery collecton!  Love the sweet and beautiful images in these papers.  This collection was designed with those who love Ska vi ta en Fika? collection in mind.  Except it brings tea time outside into the fresh air. I can't wait to see more and start scrapping with these beauties!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!  If you are looking for Maja Design products in North America you can find them at The Scrapbook Diaries and Moments of Tranquility.  xo

(NOTE:  CRAFTING GRANDMOTHER (Brenda), THANKS FOR SENDING ME YOUR ADDIE FOR YOUR PRIZE PACKAGE, BUT I ALSO NEED YOUR PHONE NUMBER FOR THE COURIER COMPANY, CAN YOU KINDLY CONTACT ME THROUGH MY EMAIL WITH YOUR PHONE NUMBER?  THANKS!xo)

I'm so excited to share with you my newest page that I made up for The Scrapbook Diaries Kit pages.  This one was so much fun to create, lots of love chipboard designs to play with (Dusty Attic Vine Flourishes, some clock hand and a lovely chipboard title as well).  I again used some awesome Ingvilde Bolme chalk inks and a Memory Box stencil that I have totally fallen in love with (I know I'll be using this stencil over and over!) And of course lots of pretty blooms and embellishments!

Here is a close-up view of the blooms I used in this kit....all of them Prima of course!  And there is a really lovely premade natural twine cluster in the kit as well.

Here's a closer view of the Junkyard findings clock in the kit as well as the chipboard clock hands....I love clock hands....so many fun ways to use these!).

I used a combination of Prima and 7 Dots (Nature Walk) papers for this page....here is a closeup of the chipboard vine flourish and the paint finish I gave it.

Here is another close-up of the title chippie and some of the other embellishments in the kit.  As always I have created a special step by step online video that you will be granted unlimited access to when you purchase the kit.

So if you would like to replicate this page or create your own version of this page, you can have all the products used in the making of this page from The Scrapbook Diaries.  Janene kindly offer's the kit in 2 ways, either the Basic or the Complete version.  If you already have the stencil and chalk inks in your stash then the Basic version is for you....but if you don't you'd want to go with the Complete version...(believe me, you will love the chalk inks and stencil...I've already used them again in other projects!).  You will of course get the video tutorial with both versions!

Hope you enjoy creating this page as much as I did!!
